Fabulous place to stay. Everyone we interacted with was so helpful and kind. The location is very central to restaurants, shops and the bus which goes right to the beach or up to Quepos. The rooms are clean and very comfortable, we had an incredible view of the water from our balcony, where monkeys would come say hello. We saw sloths, macas and monkeys without leaving the property. The pool is very relaxing and each day from 3-6pm the bar opens for incredible fresh cocktails made by Rami who is so lovely. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

The highlight of this hotel is the nature (we saw monkeys by the pool and beautiful birds). The staff are also friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately the rooms are outdated and we found there is way too many rules that makes the stay not so welcoming (not something I’ve experienced before). For example, no taking the towels to the beach, a list of rules to sign on arrival, sunbeds screwed into the floor so you can’t move them, even rules in the bathroom. There is also only 2 options at breakfast, again the menu comes with rules (no options to change any ingredients…)

Great hotel to be holed up in. Lots of Howler monkeys, spider monkeys, some Toucans all in the garden while we were there. Breakfast beside the lovely pool was simple but more than adequate and 2for1 cocktails each afternoon were enjoyable. Our large apartment was down about 40 steps at the bottom of the garden surrounded in tropical jungle. Local bus stops are 50m from the front gate and easy to use. Plenty of local and up market restaurants within easy walking distance and Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio a short bus ride.

The staff was lovely and friendly, starting with Paula and Dennys at the front desk. The room was comfortable, with a mini fridge, soft bed, and large bathroom with a huge shower. The large terrace provided a beautiful sea and jungle view. I was lucky enough to see lots of squirrel monkeys and white faced monkeys running across the roof on their way to the jungle. A delicious made to order breakfast Is included, and a bar is open from 2-6.

This place is PERFECT. The rooms, location, staff -- all excellent!

Highlights included:
- Gorgeous crystal clear pool, surrounded by trees where monkeys and birds often played
- Really nice poolside happy hour is offered as well, with an excellent bartender
- We had an ocean view suite and watched an incredible thunder storm over the water from our hammock and fell asleep to the sounds of waves each night
- A hearty breakfast is included
- Nice cold AC for wimpy Pacific Northwesterners
- Dennys helped us coordinate a great tour of the national park
- Easy walk to lots of good restaurants and shops

If you have the chance to stay here, do it! Great value for the price -- exceeded our expectations.

I book this hotel due to good online review. But they said “don’t trust anything you read online”, I believe this hotel is one of them. We booked 3 night stay at this hotel. To start with, this hotel only has a few parking spot next to a busy street outside the property, its metal barred entrance and hole in the wall lobby remind me of some bad neighborhood’s liquor store. The layout of the property itself feels a little cramp, and far from the resort looks they try to portray on their online picture.
The room looks dated, and wasn’t cleaned properly when we arrived, and have some distinct smell to it. We complaint, and they sent someone to re cleaned the room. You will get lockable cabinet inside the room for your valuable, but they will charge you if you want to use the room safe. Breakfast menu is very limited, and the portion is small.
If you draw a straight line from the hotel to the beach “on the map” the distance is roughly 3000 ft, but we need to follow the road path, so the distance realistically around 1.5 miles of slope road. I believe this hotel as a whole is overrated. For the same price they charge, they have many other hotels in the area that will give you a better value for your money.
Update: Of course, the owner claimed I'm confused with other property. but it is what it is.

We really enjoyed our stay here and our room was breathtaking while feeling like you are in the rainforest but with ocean views! The manager was very welcoming and extremely friendly. I could have spoke to him for hours lol and the hotels recently adopted dog Estella is the sweetest ever! We stayed here 5 nights and it did include breakfast. You will see monkeys or hear the howling monkeys from your room! Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and ALL the food was amazing! We met a lot of very nice people during our stay. The room was very secluded and the balcony was my favorite. Pura Vida!

We cannot say enough positive things about Villas Nicolas! We stayed four nights and would gladly stay here again if we ever return to Manuel Antonio. Our room had the most gorgeous view of the ocean - the balcony is a fantastic spot to rest and take respite from the Costa Rica sun. Our room was comfortable with a great AC for the nights and a nice bed. Paula, Romero, and the rest of the staff were so kind and helpful. The hotel is a short walk away from an ATM, a small supermarket, and several fantastic restaurants. There is a local bus stop nearby to get to Quepos or Manuel Antonio National Park. The pool is refreshing and a good place to relax if you are in need of a quieter day. We saw amazing wildlife right from our balcony! Breakfast was tasty and perfect for getting us started every morning.

A very solid and reasonably priced hotel in Manuel Antonio. I can see why the hotel only scores 2-3 stars as it does lack some amenities. There's no bar or restaurant, which would be more noticeable during longer stays. There's no spa, if that's the sort of thing you're interested in. The rooms would benefit from tea/coffee making facilities. And the reception opening hours were limited.

Having said all that, the hotel ticks lots of other boxes. The staff were really welcoming and helpful. The grounds are stunning; the pool area is exactly what you see in the photos. The wildlife was great. We saw lots of birds from our room.

We also booked an ocean view room, which I'd definitely recommend as you get a fantastic view over the bay. And you can enjoy your view from a massive balcony/terrace. In fact, the balconies are so big they are almost surplus to requirements for two people.

The location is very good. Manuel Antonio doesn't really have a "down town" or strip as everything is spread out up a steep hill. But the hotel is close to lots of the top rated restaurants and bars in the area. It is a little distance down to the beach and National Park. But there are public buses that run regularly and the bus stop is just down the road.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend a stay at Villas Nicholas, especially if you are just stopping in Manuel Antonio for a few nights.

Villas Nicolas exceeded our expectations. Our room had a balcony that allowed us to see monkeys, lizards, and birds (macaws were on site at the hotel as well). The pool was great to jump in after a quick 5 minute drive to the beach. There’s also many restaurants that are within a minute or 2 walk (although we found ourselves driving the quick 10 minutes to Quepos for more local food). Rooms were clean, air conditioned, and had cooking amenities (portable stovetop, cookware, microwave, coffee maker). Staff were all so nice and friendly. We will be staying again if we ever come back to Manuel Antonio.

The hotel is literally in the middle of the jungle which is an amazing experience for who wants to disconnect. Our room had view for the ocean but to be honest is a little far so I wouldn’t do it again, for a little less just look to the jungle.
Amazing staff, always kind and thoughtful. Breakfast super delicious, fresh fruits everyday.
Great location, walk distance from the best restaurants in town.
The only things I would say is that there’s no one at night time in the reception and also they don’t clean your room every day unless you ask for. I would say for the price it should be included but if there’s no issues bc you can ask everyday, no limits on that.
nice super reception, you feel to sleep in a tree suspended in nature. the room overlooks the mountain and the sea, dream!
the suite with fully equipped kitchen brilliant, spacious, is very well decorated, with a large terrace or you can rest, on a hammock with a breathtaking view of the bay.

The swimming pool is very pleasant, in the heart of a beautiful vegetation.

Very nice team. One did not want to leave any more!!
nice team... very comfortable charm... bungalows (very large with large terrace cuisine etc.) for a family or group of friends it is really a good map
