Incroyable!

Dated hotel a bit rustic nonetheless a great experience

Magic place with incredible view from our bedroom but also from swimming pool and restaurant. Funny climbing private road to get there.

What a magical place. Wake up to the beat view of one of the world’s greatest volcanoes. Check. Go find an enchanted jungle garden in our back yard. Check. Enjoy absolutely delicious free breakfast and amazing coffee every day. Check. Cold air conditioning and hot showers. Check. And just the most friendliest staff. I had an amazing time with the humming birds and coatimindi’s and just amazed at my stay. Even got to hear a couple of ghost stories about the macadamia farm that became a hotel. Thank you Hotel Arenal Lodge.

Older rooms, no dresser or drawers to put clothes; worked out of suitcase for 4 days

We stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were solid but nothing special. We had two full size beds. Overall I really loved that this place felt a bit rustic while still having some nicer amenities like the hot tubs and pool. The grounds are also definitely worth checking out if you have some extra time and like hiking around. Our biggest complaint is that the food was, generally speaking, bad. Nothing tasted horrible or was undercooked or anything, but it all felt very plain and not especially fresh. Definitely recommend getting lunch and dinner in town instead. Also the included breakfast comes from a menu of limited options. Coming from the US we were used to more buffet style breakfasts which this is not. Also as other people have mentioned the road up to the hotel is rough. We had an SUV and drove it many times with no problem but saw some other guests driving it in a sedan and they seemed far less comfortable.

Great place, great staff, and clean rooms in a rustic, nature oriented setting on a very large property. The only drawback is the very long, winding cobblestone type driveway to be traversed, but the quiet and peaceful setting was worth the drive.

This hotel is an incredible spot in the park, would absolutely return if visiting the area again. The rooms are spacious and clean, and every staff member is welcoming and friendly. You can also spend a couple of days just exploring the property itself, which is filled with a ton of wildlife, trails, and waterfalls. We rented a car and it was easily accessible (with just a few minutes of rougher road leading up to the lodge itself). This was overall a really nice experience and I would not hesitate to book here.

I’m so glad I found this place! Truly set in the most beautiful location with amazing views. We saw many birds, lizards, leaf cutter ants, and mammals. The staff was friendly and helpful and the views were unbeatable. There is quite a drive up the hill but it is definitely worth it.

Overall charming! The quasi-eclectic design is with full intent as the avid attention to detail was present and made for an engaging ambience. The view was lovely at all areas of the hotel. The staff was engaging and polite. The food was the best we had during our weeks of travel in Costa Rica. The 20 or so minutes from the hustle of the main town was refreshing, well worth it and offered the ability to phase in and out at will with a short taxi ride. Highly recommend for the intelligent traveler!! As a side note, the perspective of the tree in the front might have made for the most inviting pic of the entire trip!

We loved it here. (Stayed 2 nights Nov)
Stayed in a chalet & the views are breathtaking. Waking up to Arenal volcano, swimming and eating a great breakfast right in front of it was a fantastic experience. People are dramatic about the entrance, go during day time and it is perfectly fine. It is probably 20/25 mins to La Fortuna but for us this was a bonus.
The rooms are very dated. There was a sofa in our room that was filthy, so nasty… Just throw it away!
However, the linen was clean and the bed comfortable and a good hot shower (unlike many places).
No bugs no issues.

We stayed in a lodge room and they desperately need an update. The beds were clean but the furniture was not. Breakfast was good but we stayed for dinner one night and would recommend people try to plan dinner elsewhere. The road is very steep but at night you will see headlights should a car be coming down. If you don’t have a car I would not recommend staying here. The jungle walk was nice but the signs are covered in moss and also need to be updated. The hummingbirds and other birds on the property are stunning. We stayed two nights which worked out but would not want to stay longer as activities are always a drive away
