Fantastisk plats för naturupplevelse, trevligt bemötande och bra restaurang. Djur och fågelupplevelser i direkt anslutning till rum och restaurang var höjdpunkt, men även nattvandring. Stark rekommendation för den natur intresserade.

We visited just for the trails in the morning, and saw many birds and a great view of the volcano and lake. The place is beautiful and very well maintained.

Lovely location with amazing views of Arenal volcano and great access to lots of trails to watch the birds and nature. The staff were very helpful, the free guided tour was good and very informative great views from the deck over looking the volcano and Arenal lake for sunset. Very good breakfast included, sets you up for your day. The rest of the facilities are very good including the pool and museum. Would definitely recommend if you want to be in nature.

My first impression was that the day pass was overpriced like almost everything in the area, but I spent an entire afternoon wandering around the trails without seeing a single other person. My whole family agreed that it was fantastic, saw plenty of wildlife, waterfalls, and almost the top of the volcano.
Don't go to the other place next door that is trying to rip people off.

A Nature Lover's Paradise: Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails ReviewNestled in the captivating landscapes of Arenal Volcano National Park, Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails offers an unparalleled experience for nature enthusiasts. My stay at this lodge was a memorable journey into Costa Rica's natural wonders. The location, with panoramic views of the iconic Arenal Volcano, is simply breathtaking. The lodge's rustic charm combined with modern amenities provided a comfortable and authentic stay. The highlight was the extensive network of trails, allowing for immersive hikes through diverse ecosystems, waterfalls, and wildlife sightings. The onsite natural history museum and informative guided tours added educational value to the experience. Dining at the lodge's restaurant offered delicious meals with a side of volcano views. The staff's friendliness and dedication to conservation efforts were commendable. Overall, Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails is a haven for those seeking adventure, tranquility, and a deep connection with Costa Rica's rich biodiversity.

Best of the best and spectacular birds. Great food. Excellent hiking trails. Over 800 acres surrounded by Arsenal Volcano National Park. Wow. Hire a local guide.

I did not stay there. Only did hiking and bird watching. See the volcano was cool.

Come here for the birds but I can't recommend their food. Rooms were very nice and their grounds and trails were excellent for bird watching!

I fell in love with Arenal Observatory Lodge... it is a remote eco-lodge with so much natural beauty surrounding it. The views of the volcano and rainforest were incredible. So many fun birds and animals to see and many coming right to your back door every day :) It is remote and about a 30-minute drive to the nearest town on crazy dirt roads but worth it. It does not have air conditioning so keep this in mind as it was 98% humidity and warm when we were there, and you never felt fully dry. Trails and grounds were lush and well maintained. The on-site, included, breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular but the lunch and dinner options were high quality, good portions and delicious. Staff were friendly! We LOVED our spacious rooms with a view, we stayed in a junior suite and our kids stayed in a Smithsonian room, both were awesome. Highly recommend this lodge if you are an outdoor enthusiast, enjoy the quiet peace of nature, and want to be in the beauty of Costa Rica firsthand. We got married at this lodge, we did an elopement with our children.

Just went for a few hours. Gorgeous views from the observatory. We did the longer trail and I wouldn’t bother doing all that again. Would walk to the waterfall and back and then do some shorter trails right around the observatory. But all was worth the short drive from La fortuna. And cost to get in was decent.

Excellent stay at Arenal. We stayed 3 nights in a smithsonian room - very spacious and comfortable. We loved sitting on the terrace taking in the beautiful views of the volcano and gardens - great bird watching too, with hummingbirds and toucans flying past. The trails around the grounds are tremendous - well mapped and a variety of wildlife to see (birds and monkeys) and waterfalls. The restaurant is nice enough and the staff are all courteous

Expensive to get in but trails are really nice and uncrowded

We spent a few hours at the Observatory Lodge and Trails after doing the Mystic Hanging Bridges. It gave us an opportunity to view the Vulcano, have an excellent lunch and walk through the trails. We saw many olingas and many birds. The grounds are very nice. Plan for about 2 hours plus an hour for lunch. The restaurant has great food and excellent friendly service. There is an entry fee which can be paid by credit card so plan for that. We did not stay in the rooms at the lodge so we can't comment but the overall appearance of the facility was good, including an outdoor pool.

This was our 5th visit to the lodge, so obviously we really like it. We've stayed in several different types of their rooms, the last few times in a Junior Suite. We like the suite for the extra space, the furniture, fridge and a great patio.

Besides the rooms, this lodge has it all. Fantastic views of the volcano and the lake, tons of birds, some nice trails and a really good restaurant. To us the lodge is Costa Rica at it's best. Can't wait to return...

White Hawk Villa is super

The lodge was a bit further out and on a less maintained road. That's part of it's charm. I can't imagine a better location to see the volcano and also intwined with nature, preservation and beautiful scenery. The view from the balcony was incredible. Everything about this place was perfect. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

This place was absolutely amazing! We bought a day pass to explore the trails and had to come back, cause we couldn’t get enough of it! The park people told us three hours was enough to do the trails.. maybe if you have a motorcycle! ???? Definitely worth spending a whole day there. I’d recommend hiking boots for the river trail and some other ones for sure. The restaurant has a decent menu to choose from, I didn’t think buying a ticket with lunch included was necessary. Coffee house has amazing smoothies. Overall a wonderful experience and a rare opportunity to have privacy in Fortuna, there were barely any people on the trails. We did see a monkey, but it was hard to spot them. Lots of birds and other animals. Ubers will drive you there no problem and you can reserve a taxi ride back at the reception for about $30 to downtown. Prepare for quite a shaky road.
Beautiful view of the Arenal volcano provided that it is not hidden behind the clouds. The lava flows the night are more myth that a reality! The rooms are very comfortables and a warm welcome. You are walk from work to visit Parc National Arenal...
