My wife and I chose this part of Costa Rica because of its reputation as an off-the-beaten-path gem, and those are the exact words I'd use after our trip. The Ylang Ylang is the perfect choice in an already perfect place. This location is wild enough to give the feeling of genuine travel, yet comfortable enough to keep worries at bay. I don’t like feeling like a tourist, even if I am one, and the Ylang Ylang made me feel like an adventurer who appreciates air conditioning. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow. It was clean, comfortable, and quite literally 10 steps from a stunning and isolated beach with remarkably warm water. However, it's not the best place to swim as the shore-breaking waves and reef rocks might cause harm. But there's no such concern with the hotel pool. My only advice is to stay hydrated since walking long distances on the beach is unavoidable. If you're like me and want to experience something special, avoid the crowds, crave adventure but also want the comfort of a good mattress, and want to be asking yourself, "Where am I? Is this real?" then stay at the Ylang Ylang.

I love this resort. It is beautiful and a great location near town. I went for a yoga retreat and all of the staff was accommodating. I also enjoyed meeting the owners and learning their beautiful story. I definitely will be back.

Brałam udział w zajęciach jogi na zasadzie drop-in class. Było nas 5 osób co dawało duży komfort praktyki. Najlepsze miejsce do jogi w jakim byłam. Piękne widoki, szum oceanu, którego nie trzeba sobie wyobrażać, tylko jest z nami tu i teraz. Prowadząca doświadczona i uprzejma, czas relaksu, wyciszenia komfortowy. Piękny drewniany taras, pomoce jogowe są na miejscu, nie trzeba brać nic ze sobą. To była przyjemność praktykować w międzynarodowej grupie ????( grudzień 2022)

Oh my goodness! My wife and I stayed at the resort for six nights and cannot say enough good things about the facility, staff, or food. We were greeted with smiles and graciousness from the moment we arrived. Every request was met with some form of "Absolutely! We can get that for you." The members of the staff became friends. We will be dreaming of a day when we can return to Ylang Ylang.

We stayed June 1-8, 2023 for our honeymoon and we were SO glad we did! The best part of this resort, besides how beautiful it is, is the staff. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and wonderful during our entire stay but I have to give a shout out to Patricia, Rebekah, Alana, Franchesco, Darren, Alex, and Eric who went above and beyond to make our trip the best it could possibly be. They are amazing human beings and I hope one day our paths cross again!

Along with the beauty of the resort and the amazing staff... the food was out of this world. We stayed in Costa Rica for 2 weeks and the food at this resort was the best we had our entire trip. Everything was super fresh and tasty. Not to mention, all of their alcoholic drinks were soooo good! What I would give to have one of those pina coladas again.

We stayed in the treetop canopy room for the first half of our stay (and a garden dome for two nights). Although the dome room was nice, the tree top canopy room was amazing. It really felt like you were in a treehouse. It was very private and it felt like the ultimate vacation spot. We also got a couples massage and it was the most relaxing massage we've ever had- we both almost fell asleep it was so relaxing.

I highly recommend staying here and hope we will return some day!!

My wife and I are currently on our way home from spending a wonderful 8 nights at Ylang Ylang for our honeymoon. I could not recommend highly enough to reflect the amazing experience we had! From ease of booking and courteous, quick responses to all of our questions, all the way to the friendly farewell at breakfast this morning, the entire experience has been nothing short of amazing. When we first arrived we enjoyed a delicious vegan dinner that was the most flavorful pasta I have ever experienced! The amazing food continued every day of our stay. We enjoyed relaxing and exploring the property, as well as a couple of day trips into town and on some adventures. The cabina we stayed in was very comfortable and just the right amount of space for us. The cleaning service was so cute with the towel art that they left us, and brought our space back to spotless condition every day. We have no complaints whatsoever!
Ylang Ylang has been an incredible experience, and we will definitely recommend it to others, just like it was recommended to us.

We just got back to the states, just yesterday having left this piece of paradise and I’m sitting here smiling reflecting on what an incredible experience our stay here was! We stayed three nights and wish we could have spent so much longer because we enjoyed ourselves so much. We stayed in the tree top canopy which was so dreamy. Awoke to howler monkeys in the trees in the morning and fell asleep listening to the waves crash on the beach below. Our meals were incredible each day, with the most friendly staff who made us want to stay all day!! The hotel was easy to communicate with-we ultimately chose to leave our car at their sister restaurant in town and given that we only had backpacks, we walked the 10 min walk along the beach which only added to the magical feeling of this place. We were offered a shuttle, which we ultimately took on the way back to town at the end of our stay, but we loved stretching our legs and walking! Cannot recommend this place enough. Each and every detail is thought through. We can’t wait to return again in the future. Thank you thank you to everyone at Ylang Ylang!

We had an unreal and amazing time in March at Ylang Ylang. This is our second time at the resort (we went same time in 2022) and we couldn’t believe how many upgrades they’ve done in one year. There’s a large tent roof over the restaurant patio now that’s beautiful with chandeliers. The cabinas have been completely redone and now offer more space. We had our wedding here in March, with over 40 of us, and we had a blast. We had a pool party, welcome party, bachelorette girls night and boat trip. Emma and her team helped organize all of it and made it a ton of fun. This is a stunning, small resort run by a family that is private and right on the beach. Great for couples and families! Highly recommend! Also, the food was fabulous. It was delicious during our entire stay, not just at the wedding. Thanks again to the entire team at Ylang Ylang, and we can’t wait to return!

(Posting as Chris & Heidi) Ylang Ylang completely exceeded my already high expectations. My wife and continue returning to Costa Rica because of how much we love it. And Montezuma was a first for us and we spend part of our trip at Ylang Ylang.

It was the perfect blend of beautiful jungle vibes with a dash of resort comforts. The property is stunning and reflects the passion they have for nature. Food is fresh, local and delicious. If I could find a restaurant like this back home, I’d have a hard time cooking my own meals.

There are only 15-20 units occupied when close to maximum capacity so it feels like a nice mix of solitude but with some interaction throughout.

The staff are helpful, friendly and make you feel like you’re at home with locals rather than being pampered at a resort. But if you want to be pampered, they will happily oblige! You can eat all your meals here, have drinks and enjoy honestly the most healthy food I’ve ever had being away. I feel healthier having stayed there, which is rare when travelling for us. You can indulge while feeling good about it.

We don’t enjoy huge all inclusive resorts at all due to the size and amusement park feel to it all. So Ylang Ylang was a perfect spot. It feels like you were on someone’s beautiful property with an amazing full service restaurant. Pool, hammocks, beach chairs are all easily accessible, comfortable and perfectly placed. We actually enjoyed the pool way more than we thought! It was a nicely shaded/sunny oasis to spend an afternoon. Miss it already!

If you want to book excursions every day they can do that for you. If you want to lounge and get spa treatments (amazing masseuse) all day, every day you can do that. Rent an ATV or walk 10 minutes into town. All while having the most beautiful home base we could imagine.

Thank you to EVERYONE at Ylang Ylang for giving my wife and I a peaceful, refreshing place to connect and recharge. It’s been a particularly tough few years for us and being here gave us energy we will now use back home. And to Patricia, Lenny, and the whole family, thank you for creating this spot and enduring all the ups and downs to what is now a incredible preservation of nature for anyone to enjoy.

*Side note: I read a few comments about the rooms not being to some visitors expectations. I will say that Ylang Ylang does not hide what the rooms look like, so I am unsure why you would book if you have such a high standard? The rooms are spotless and have everything you need to be comfortable. My wife and I called them unpretentious and honestly it made us feel more at home and comfortable.

A unique and calming resort that relaxes you immediately upon arrival. The balcony on the cabanas over beautiful views. The staff is incredible and offers fantastic service. Darren and Francisco made our trip unforgettable with their recommendations.

Ylang Ylang is a magical place. I planned this trip to celebrate our friend’s recovery from cancer. We couldn’t have been more grateful for the staff, especially Arturo and Francesco. They helped us feel at home and cared for. Their hospitality and kindness are the reason I will return to Ylang Ylang.

Francesco, Patricia, Arturo , and Darren take care of you so well as. does Alex and the rest of the staff. Hate to leave a good review as that will mean more visitors and might have trouble booking my next trip :-)
Service to all is excellent.

Had lunch at the Ylang Ylang today it was delicious! The server Darren was personable, and entertaining. The Pina Colades were the bomb, the food was excellent as well as the presentation. We will be back again.

Przychodziliśmy tam na bardzo dobre lunche. Położenie restauracji przy naszej wspaniałej plaży. Bardzo dobra obsługa, super studio Yogi z zapierającym dech w piersi widokiem na Ocean.

Absolutely my favorite place I've ever stayed. The staff, the food, the amenities, the ocean, the beach, the pool, the spa. This place was heaven. An oasis. I loved it.

Such a special place, beautiful beaches backed onto jungle where you can regularly see various monkeys and other wildlife! The staff are so lovely and the facilities are great, as is the food - i would recommend Ylang Ylang to anyone looking to stay on the Montezuma area!

This place is fantastic everything was as advertised. Very friendly staff! Darren Auturo Eric Alex and Patricia were very helpful!!! Only bad part was the drive from the airport

After a five minute walk from the end of a dead-end road up a brutally hot deep soft sand beach we arrived at Ylang Ylang Beach Resort for lunch. Service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. Their eponymous mint lemonade with Ginger Ale is a real thirst quencher. The food is excellent and the portions are large. Their Gazpacho was most excellent.
But you couldn’t pay me to walk up that painful beach again.

We are two seniors from the U.S. Due to our own scheduling error, we found ourselves with an extra day and night between reservations. Although we could have stayed in Montezuma, my husband insisted on "having an adventure" and finding something in a "more natural setting." We slogged with our luggage along a beach road that looked like it was going nowhere. Just as we were about to drop, Ylang Ylang appeared before us. We were exhausted and drenched in sweat, and we must have looked awful. But the people at reception greeted us warmly, found us a charming cabina for one night, and offered us an iced juice. We don't usually travel in such comfort as we found at Ylang Ylang, but our stay has whetted our appetite. Air conditioned, comfortable, but best of all, really friendly, attentive staff. I would like to return.

We had such a nice stay at this resort. Not only was the location incredibly beautiful and the amenities were great, but the staff and restaurants were the highlight! We loved Patricia, Darren, Arturo, and Francisco! Everyone was so helpful and friendly. We highly recommend staying at this relaxing resort.

I was here for my honeymoon and absolutly loved every minute of it. The resort is beautiful! Situated right in the jungle with lots of wildlife roaming around. The rooms are very clean, the restaurant has incredible staff and delicious food. The beach is a short few steps from your room and is an easy walk into town (15ish minutes). The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful with organizing transportation and tours/excursions. Would highly recommend this resort and look forward to returning in the future.

Lo visitamos porque tienen un convenio con el hotel sano banano o pertenece al mismo propuetario Mucha vegetación y piscina. Muy bonito y muchos animales para que observen los extranjeros.

We chose Ylang Ylang for our vacation because of all the gluten free options on their menu. I have celiac disease and had a wonderful time at the resort. The restaurant staff was great about answering questions and making sure my food was safe for me to eat.
We enjoyed our outdoor shower at Coco Joe’s and our private beach cabana. The staff were amazing and we had a fun time on our excursions recommended by the resort.
Ylang ylang helped us coordinate our transportation to and from the resort and I would recommend that every time. The resort is a little harder to get to on your own.
We saw soo much wildlife right around the resort. Definitely worth coming back!

Eine sehr schöne Anlage… leider sind die Zimmer JK-Block in die Jahre gekommen!
Essen war sehr gut / Personal war super freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Leider täuschen die Fotos auf der Webseite… man kann leider wegen den vorgelagerten Felsen nicht direkt beim Hotel ins Wasser gehen, mussten da leider immer 10 Minuten wandern! ????????
