A huge underground mine in operation, with a maze of galleries and chambers and an artificial lake at the mine entrance
The Brejo mine is a huge underground mine, the largest open in the region. Generally, the majority of the garimpos were of small size, because they were exploited by craftsmen and quickly cleaned. It is still in activity, and you can visit it with one of the three garimpeiros who spend their days there. An incredible maze of galleries and rooms which gives the measure of the effervescence which seized the area. We will take advantage of the visit to take a dip in the artificial lake at the entrance of the mine. Claustrophobic people should not go.
