Mucugê is the "pioneer" city of the diamond "garimpo", where Cazuza do Prado discovered the first diamond vein in 1884, a discovery that would initiate a "diamond cycle" that would last for almost a century. The Pousada Mucugê itself is worth a visit. It is an old house from the 19th century, born of the splendor of that glorious era, well preserved, at the foot of the Serra de Sicora, at an altitude of about 1000 meters. The rooms, 30 in number, are all located in the annex and are simple and functional.
