CONVENTO LAS CAPUCHINAS
The last female convent created in Antigua in 1731, featuring a circular tower with cells around the central patio.
It is the last female convent created in Antigua, whose construction began in 1731 and whose official inauguration took place in 1736. Despite the earthquakes that the city has suffered, it is one of its best preserved monuments. It is now the headquarters of the National Council for the Protection of Antigua Guatemala, as well as a museum. One of the highlights of the building is the tower used by the nuns for their retreat, an impressive circular structure with 18 cells organized around the central patio, which was unique in its time.
