MUSEO DE ARTE COLONIAL
Museum with a collection of paintings, furniture and sculptures dating from the colonial period, from the to centuries.
After the destruction of the headquarters of the Universidad de San Carlos de Borromeo by the earthquake of 1751, a new building was constructed to house it: the one that now houses the Museo de Arte Colonial, erected in 1768. Although the 1773 earthquake did not damage it severely, it was deserted when the university was transferred to the new capital. Today, its corridors and rooms contain a fine collection of paintings, furniture and sculptures from the colonial period - from the 16th to the 18th century.
