PALACIO DE LOS CAPITANES
Elegant building housing the Palacio de los Capitanes and the Museo Nacional de Arte de Guatemala with art and archaeology exhibits.
Its two levels of semi-circular arches make it one of the most elegant monuments in Antigua. This magnificent building was the seat of the government of Central America, as well as that of the Viceroy until 1773. Today, it houses the very active Centro Cultural del Real Palacio - the other name given to the Palacio de los Capitanes - to which was added the Museo Nacional de Arte de Guatemala, created in 2021. Here you can admire pieces of art and archaeology that are important in the history of the country. A visit not to be missed!
