The International Peace Brigades are an independent, impartial non-governmental organization (NGO) associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information. PBI has been working for more than 30 years (they were trained in 1981) to protect human rights and promote non-violence. Their presence deters acts of violence and allows the creation of a space for political dialogue for these defenders. In France, PBI works to raise the awareness of French public opinion about its themes (non-violent conflict resolution, civil peace intervention, peace actors, etc.).
What are they proposing? At the request of human rights associations, PBI sends volunteer teams to conflict areas to provide protective accompaniment to members of these associations threatened by political violence, their lives and their activities.
