During the "Strike of Pain", thousands of students march through the capital to protest against the government.
Every "Viernes de Dolores" - the Friday before Palm Sunday - thousands of students march through the streets of downtown Guatemala City to protest against the government. The "Huelga de Dolores" - also known as the "Desfile Bufo" - was first held in 1898, when students from the University of San Carlos protested for the opening and improvement of elementary school. Symbolically, it is about giving voice to those who have none.
