Ceremonial site, a shrine to the earth god Huyup Tak'ah, where Mayan priests perform ceremonies.
This ceremonial site is nestled on the top of a small hill south of the village. It is a sanctuary for the earth god Huyup Tak'ah, which means "Piedra Ceremonial"; a link that makes sense, given the stone idol present on the site. Here one can observe Mayan priests performing ceremonies with offerings of cigars, alcohol, incense, flowers, and sometimes chickens. These ceremonies are more frequent at the time of plowing and harvesting. Ask around to make sure the path is safe.
