It does not really exist as a tourist office, but an office in the Mercado de Artesanias gives some tourist information. El Descanso restaurant, part of a local development project, organizes treks with Guides guides «guías ixiles» and provides Spanish courses (with family accommodation). There are maps of the region. The Internet sites www.nebaj.com (designed by two peace bodies in English) and www.laregionixil.com (Spanish) are very interesting. There are opportunities for volunteering proposed by the above sites, it is certainly an exciting and useful way to travel.
