CASTILLO DE SAN FELIPE
A national historic monument built to prevent English pirates from entering Guatemala, you can take a stroll there and on the nearby beach.
Located at the mouth of the Dulce River, this National Historic Monument was erected in 1651 to prevent English pirates from entering Guatemala. It was used as a military fort, a prison, a customs center and a trading post with Spain. The castle lacks explanatory signs, so it may be worthwhile to hire a guide - if there is one on site, which is not always the case. One comes there especially to walk, to take pretty pictures and to go to the small adjacent beach, very frequented by the locals.
