CUEVAS DE LAS MINAS
Go there and contact
Located only a few kilometres from Esquipulas, las Cuevas in las Minas is a network of caves (caves: caves) dug by man to extract, among others, jade. Extraction activity has long ceased. Today, they are the subject of special attention on the part of the population. Indeed, men working in the mine would have seen the Cristo Negro appear there. Like the cave of Lourdes, it has since been the subject of a cult of the Chorti Indians and other Indian communities in the country. During the great religious festivals of the year (15 January, the Semana Santa…), believers gather in many to celebrate Christ Noir.
