The Hieroglyphic Staircase was discovered at the end of the 19th century, revealing more than 1,250 rooms with mysterious inscriptions. some 2,500 glyphs remain undeciphered. This monument, 10 m wide and 21 m high, is considered the most remarkable of the classical period. Its 63 steps tell the story of the ancestors of the fifteenth king of the Copán dynasty, Humo Caracol. The banisters are decorated with snakes and fantastic birds from the Mayan imagination.

Il est protégé par une bâche ce qui est bien sympa avec la chaleur ou les intempéries, des sièges en billot de bois vous permettrons de vos "poser" et de lire cet escalier comme un livre, et voir chaque détail, il est adossé à une grande pyramide, c'est gigantesque et bien mis en valeur. Nombre'de chose à observer et détailler en son pourtour.
