IGLESIA DEL SAGRARIO
Church featuring numerous works by the Quenña school, also representative of Legarda's style
The term Sagrario is reserved for chapels adjoining a large cathedral to which they are annexed. This one, the main chapel of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Quito, was originally dedicated to the cult of the Blessed Sacrament and dates from the 17th century. The sumptuous entrance, with its salomonic columns covered with decorations and cherubs' heads, reminds us of the style of the artist Bernardo Legarda. Inside, there are many works of the Quenya school, also representative of Legarda's style.
