Church built from 1581, under the direction of Francisco de Becerra
The church dominates the square at the center of which stands a monument dedicated to Marshal Sucre. Built from 1581 onwards, under the direction of Francisco de Becerra, a Spanish architect originally from Extremadura, the church was restored to its original splendor, as evidenced by the starry sky in the main nave and the representation of the Virgin Mary, a gift from Charles V. The red-and-gold Baroque chapel is also remarkable.
