MUSEO MANUELA SAENZ
Museum in an old house in the colonial center, housing a fine collection of Quenño religious art from the to centuries
Opened in 1994, this museum occupies an old house in the colonial center, wonderfully restored. The collections cover the independence period of Ecuador. Thus, the visitor discovers various testimonies of this period: weapons, paintings, personal objects of Manuelita Sáenz, the mistress of Simon Bolívar and first revolutionary of the country, numerous letters, saved by her, exchanged between the libertador and the general Sucre. A beautiful collection of religious art from the 17th to the 19th century completes the collection.
