CEMENTERIO DE TULCÁN
Cemetery with emblematic figures carved in cypress trees: birds, virgins, men, turtles, iguanas..
The fame of the small local cemetery has spread far beyond the borders of the country. Instead of the traditional statues, you will see emblematic figures carved in the cypresses, birds, virgins, men, turtles, iguanas... All the local fauna and traditions are represented! Started more than 60 years ago by José María Franco Guerrero, the topiary art work continues thanks to his son who maintains the 80 green sculptures with a team of five people. A new wing of the cemetery is now covered with the famous plant sculptures.
