40 days before Holy Week, fruits and vegetables are celebrated in Ambato, with music and dancing.
It is in Ambato, in the heart of the Sierra, that the festival is in full swing. For almost a month, beginning forty days before Holy Week, fruit and flowers are in the spotlight. On this occasion, parades, shows, fireworks and dances take place. Grandiloquent floats go through the streets of the city, with music and colours. This great festival has been registered in the register of the intangible cultural heritage of Ecuador since 2009, thanks to its importance in the local imagination and its cultural identity particularly recognized.
