Park in front of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, easy to find
This park is easy to spot since it is located in front of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In this place there was the old "Conciliar Seminary" which was abandoned in 1902 by the Church. During the construction of the Basilica, which was inaugurated in 1915, it was decided by the municipal authorities to design a square from which the magnificent work could be observed. On October 14, 1914, the Council of the Church of Riobamba, approved the negotiation of the land with the City Council for the sum of 20,000 sucres, the currency of the time.
