At La Moya, a 10-minute walk from the start of the excursion to the Chimborazo ice mines, José and his family welcome you into their home, like long-time friends, and introduce you to the joys of community life without its constraints. If you'd like to lend a hand in the community, you'll have no trouble finding ways to put your hidden talents to good use, but it's by no means an obligation.
