PALACIO REAL
Palacio, where you can visit the llama museum and craft center at the same time
For several years, the community of Palacio Real has developed, with the help of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ahuana association, an ambitious tourist and cultural project, centered around the llama, sumak kawsay in Quichua. A llama museum, a llama meat restaurant, a woolen mill, clothing design, meeting rooms for rent and tourist trails, this is what has been set up and promotes the transmission of the indigenous culture.
And you can even sponsor a llama! To date, about 300 llamas have been successfully handed over to families. Here are the steps of this sponsorship project, established by the Ahuana association: you sponsor a llama (contact the Ahuana association by e-mail - [email protected]), you receive a photo of the family and its llama, at the first birth, the little one is given to a neighbouring family, and it is a whole network of solidarity economy which is woven!
And on the spot, within the community, here is a very pleasant solution for those who wish to share the life of a local family. 3 chozas (traditional houses) have been built for travellers, in the immediate vicinity of the host families. Here, you are really in the heart of the activity center. The accommodation includes meals and is accompanied by an offer to discover the village in two days, while participating in agricultural activities. You will be able to visit the llama museum and the handicraft centre at the same time. The chozas are simple, but very clean and pleasant.
