IGLESIA EL CARMEN DE LA ASUNCION
Church featuring a fine neoclassical colonial altarpiece and a gilded pulpit covered with mirrors
Built around 1730, this picturesque church in the Flower Market Square is one of the oldest in the city. The building is in Renaissance style, and its façade is adorned with an elegant ashlar entrance on which one can observe interesting sculptures in Baroque style (such as the salomonic columns that frame the port). Inside, there is a beautiful colonial altarpiece in neoclassical style, as well as a pulpit gilded with fine gold and covered with mirrors.
