IGLESIA EL SAGRARIO
Church retaining its basic colonial structure despite numerous alterations in the and centuries
During the colonial era, this church was the center of religious worship in the city and was the parish church of the Spaniards. The ashlars come from the ruins of the Tomebamba, and were used as cement and base for the walls. The church became a cathedral at the end of the 18th century. Today, the church retains its basic colonial structure despite numerous transformations carried out in the 19th and 20th centuries. Inside, it has 3 naves, a central altar and 7 sides. The baroque and renaissance styles are clearly recognizable.
