IGLESIA SAN BLAS
Place of worship built with Inca ashlars from the early colonial period
Facing the Simon Bolívar Park, where the bust of one of the greatest Ecuadorian poets, the child of Cuenca Manuel Calle, is enthroned, the church shows off its pink façade, its dome and its tower where three bells call the faithful. This place of worship has the particularity of having been built with Inca stones from the beginning of the colonization. The new building, rebuilt in 1935, still preserves this singular structure. Inside, three main naves can be seen, while the two smaller ones are arranged in a perfect Latin cross shape.
