MUSEO DE ARTE MODERNO
Museum presenting typical features of Ibero-American architecture
Built in 1876, the Casa de la Temperancia, so named because it was a centre for alcoholics, has typical characteristics of Ibero-American architecture. The Central Bank restored the building in 1979 before handing it over to the City Council, which has been responsible for its administration ever since. In 1982 the Museum of Modern Art was inaugurated. Temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art are held here, and permanent exhibitions of works belonging to the museum's heritage can also be seen.
