CORTE DE JUSTICIA
Imposing building housing a beautiful interior patio where columns create vast corridors
Initially intended to be part of the University of Cuenca, this imposing building was built in 1929 by the same architect who built the Bank of Azuay, Francisco Espinoza Acevedo, inspired by a classical French style. The symmetry with the bank is remarkable. There is also a beautiful interior patio where the columns create large corridors that separate the old classrooms from the open area. The marble that covers the walls was brought from a region near the city and polished in the mills of the Tomebamba River.
