MUSEO PUMAPUNGO
Museum housing superb archaeological finds, an interesting collection of religious art and numismatics
The museum is located on the archaeological site of the most important Inca ruins in the city: Pumapungo. It contains rooms filled with superb archaeological finds, an interesting collection of religious art from the 19th century and numismatics (which traces the history of the local currency). The Christs of Sangurima and Vélez are among the items to be seen. Also noteworthy in the ethnological section is a section devoted to the reduced heads or tsantzas, ritual objects made from decapitated human heads.
