Site of the monument to Abdón Calderón Garaycoa, a hero of Ecuador's War of Independence
It is the ideal place to start the tour of the historic centre. In the center is the monument to the memory of Abdón Calderón Garaycoa who was a hero of the war of independence of Ecuador. He was born in Cuenca in 1804 and died in June 1822 in the city of Quito, as a result of numerous wounds resulting from his tireless fight alongside Bolívar, who made him a captain posthumously.

Du fait que cette place soit juste devant la cathédrale et qu'elle est aménagée avec un joli petit parc, il y a beaucoup de monde ici! ça grouille de monde, les bancs sont pris d'assaut, les vendeurs et petits métiers sont là, l'animation et l'atmosphère est excellente. en son pourtour il y a de beaux bâtiments en style colonial, de toute façon comme c'est au centre de la ville vous y passerez forcément. Endroit sécurisé la police n'est pas loin et présente.

Petit parc très sympathique où tout autour il y a de beaux batiments. Paisible pour manger une glace notamment. Il faut admirer les très jolis arbres dans le parc.
