PLAZA DEL ROLLO - PILLORY
Square in the heart of the El Vecino district, with a view of the pillory built in 1787
In the Plaza del Rollo, located in the heart of the El Vecino neighborhood, you can see the pillory built in 1787 where, during the colonial era, convicts were hanged. According to the architect Paúl Carrasco Peña, who in the former municipal administration directed the Fundación del Barranco, the entity in charge of the restoration of El Rollo, El Vecino was not the only place where there was a pillory in Cuenca. In the area of San Sebastian, formerly known as the Coast Road, there was another one as well as in the area of the Tomebamba River.
