Basilica housing a statue of the Virgin carved from cedar in the century by Diego de Robles
The basilica of the Sanctuary of El Cisne, built in 1935 in a beautiful Gothic style, contains a statue of the Virgin carved from cedar in the sixteenth century by Diego de Robles.
A small museum of religious art adjacent to the basilica allows the visitor to admire works of the Quenña School, in particular those of Samaniego and Caspicara. The decree signed by Simón Bolívar on July 28, 1829, which established the annual pilgrimage to Loja, is prominently displayed. The clothes and objects offered by the faithful to the Virgin can be discovered with curiosity.
