This cable car that connects the centre of Guayaquil to Duran, on the other side of the river, was inaugurated in 2020 and is intended for inter-city transport, making it possible to relieve, or at least this is the idea, the automobile traffic. Duran's population has tripled in 20 years and the majority of the population comes to the city centre to work. On the Guayaquil side, the three stations are located on strategic sites: on the Malecon, in the Julian Coronel park, a hub for the city's buses, and finally, in the Centennial park, right in the city centre.
