IGLESIA SANTO DOMINGO DE GUZMAN
Church next to the Barrio de las Peñas, with works by the painter Salas and others from the colonial era
Located next to the Barrio de las Peñas, this is the city's oldest church. Its original construction dates back to 1548, after which it was destroyed in the fires that ravaged the city, and has since been restored many times. In 1575, the Dominicans, represented by Father Téllez, founded the convent and church. Santo Domingo was again destroyed by fire in 1899. It houses works by the painter Salas and others from the colonial era.
