PALACIO DE LA GOBERNACIÓN
Building featuring a cross-shaped central gallery topped by a glass and wrought-iron roof
On the front line of the Malecón, this building houses the administration of the province of Guayas. The current building, which dates from 1923, was designed by the German architect Augusto Ridder according to the plans of the Italian engineer Mario Gherardi. It has a central gallery in the form of a cross with a glass and wrought iron roof. Its neoclassical style is evident in the triumphal arches supported by four columns, which are erected at the entrances to the gallery.
