MUNICIPAL PALACIO OF GUAYAQUIL
Palace in modern Renaissance style, with Gothic touches
The Palacio Municipal, designed by the Italian architect Francesco Maccaferri and inaugurated in 1929, displays a modern Renaissance style with Gothic touches. The current Town Hall Palace was built on the remains of the old municipal building that was burned down in 1908 during the plague epidemic. In the 1990s, it was renovated under the mandate of León Febres Cordero, the same mayor who has been driving the city's modernization since its entry into the 21st century.
