A market whose glass structure now serves the works of art exhibited within it
The Palacio de Cristal, located on the banks of the Guayas River, is an old market whose structure, made of iron brought from Italy, would have been designed by the engineers of Gustave Eiffel in Guayaquil. Until the end of the 90's, it was the place of a colorful and smelly food market. Today, the market has been transformed into a palace. Its glass structure is now at the service of the works of art on display. Picasso, Rembrandt, Guayasamín are among the great artists who have had this honour. Superb, illuminated at night.
