MUSEO DE LAS BALLENAS
Museum featuring a private collection of marine mammal specimens
The Whale Museum presents a private collection of marine mammal specimens. The museum was opened by two enthusiasts, Ben Haase and Fernando Félix. For more than 20 years, with the help of members of the FEMM (Ecuadorian Foundation for the Study of Marine Mammals), they have collected numerous remains of stranded whales, which allowed them to create this museum as well as to publish various specialised works. The remains of marine mammals found in the provinces of Santa Elena, Guayas and Manabí can be seen.
