The Salango Archaeological Museum, founded by anthropologist Preston Norton, is located in the CIMS research center building, under a high pyramidal roof. On display is a fine collection of 245 ceramics depicting the life and history of the region's ancestral cultures, notably Valdivia and Chorrera, and depicting scenes of daily life. These ceramics are between 3,500 and 5,000 years old and have been declared Ecuador's cultural heritage.
