Once a small coastal town, it now has a population of 12,000 and offers a good infrastructure with numerous hotels, bars and restaurants, mainly located on the Avenida Charles Darwin coastal road. One of Puerto Ayora's main attractions is Tortuga Bay beach, a soft sandy beach where you can spot reef sharks and marine iguanas. Another site not to be missed is Bartolomé Island, known for its volcanic landscape and impressive bay. Finally, Dragon Hill is a must-visit spot, named for the multitude of iguanas that live there.
