Nesting ground for large colonies of masked boobies and blue-footed boobies
This is the nesting ground for large colonies of masked and blue-footed boobies. The Española albatrosses nest here from April to the end of November. The island is also populated by mockingbirds, including a species specific to the island which is distinguished by a longer and more curved beak than that of the other islands; and also buzzards, doves, finches, gulls and herons. A walk along the cliff path will take you to the "blowhole", a natural formation that creates a geyser of water of impressive height when the sea is rough.
