ORGANISATION ÉCOTOURISTIQUE DU LAC OGUÉMOUÉ (OELO)
Starting from the observation that hunting has increased in recent years, the inhabitants of the village of Tsam Tsam, including Cyril and his family, have formed an environmental organization to protect the lake and its environment for future generations. Since the end of 2010, the Lake Oguémoué Ecotourism Organisation (OELO) has set itself the following objectives, among others: to raise local populations' awareness of the environment, protect biodiversity and ecosystems, and help residents generate income. From there, the Tsam Tsam Tsam site project was born, on the shores of Lake Oguémoué, where Cyrille, co-founder of OELO, helped by the inhabitants of the village, organizes stays in the heart of nature, punctuated by tourist activities. 25% of the income generated is given to the population, which can thus improve its daily life. The organization is also at the initiative of the festival of environmental arts which takes place in September in Lambaréné. The Tsam Tsam Tsam Prize is awarded to students for their work, which includes a stay at the eponymous ecotourism site.
