Lighthouse in tribute to Louisiana's maritime history, appearing in the movie
Built in 1837, this lighthouse, a tribute to Louisiana's maritime history, was badly damaged during the Civil War and was rebuilt in 1867-1968 in the same location with the bricks that remained. In 1965, Hurricane Betsy destroyed the only road to the lighthouse and the keeper's house was separated and moved to its present location. The lighthouse appears in David Fincher's film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and is the subject of numerous articles and photos.
