ORMOND MANOR
A house built in the typical style of the plantations of the time, houses a charming Bed & Breakfast
The present residence was built just before 1790 in the typical plantation style of the period. Richard Butler, an Irish colonel enamored of the Louisiana South, bought the plantation in 1805 and named it Ormond, after Ormonde Castle in Ireland. When the Civil War broke out, the property passed from hand to hand, gradually falling into disrepair over time. It was restored and modernized in the middle of the last century. The house now houses a charming bed & breakfast and a fine restaurant.
