OLD GOVERNOR'S MANSION
Historical museum exhibiting many furnishings and objects that belonged to previous Louisiana governors in Baton Rouge.
This mansion was built in 1929 by Governor Huey P. Long as his new residence. Today, this beautiful mansion is a historical museum and the headquarters of Preserve Louisiana. The house was reopened to the public in 1999 after an extensive restoration. Many pieces of furniture and objects that belonged to previous Louisiana governors are on display. The visit is not very original, but with a little imagination you can see how Louisiana politicians could live beyond their means.
