The administrative headquarters of Vermilion Parish which houses federal and state offices in Abbeville.
The present courthouse was built by the famous architect A. Hays Town in the Greek Renaissance style in the early 1950s. It is the third structure to be erected on this site, the first being a wooden structure that burned down in 1885 and the second being eventually deemed too small for the needs of the parish. The Vermilion Parish Courthouse is the administrative headquarters of Vermilion Parish and houses federal and state offices.
