Tourist office for information on the area which hosts an exhibit on various aspects of Louisiana culture
The tourist office is actually located in Gray, about 10 minutes drive from Houma. You will find all the tourist information (in French!) about this beautiful region. The lobby hosts a very interesting permanent exhibit on various aspects of Louisiana and local culture (Mardi Gras, fishing industry, Indians, music, etc.). A must-see stop to prepare your visit in the region. Bonus: free wifi access and very friendly staff. Possibility to download the tourist brochure online.

Members' reviews on EXPLORE HOUMA
The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
The staffer on duty that day was a 4 or 5th generation native. She knew a great deal of local history and the high lights of the region, was willing to share her knowledge, and was very conversant.
Homa is on the northern side of Cajun bayou country. The visitor's center has several professionally prepared displays of the region's people, history, flora and fauna (which of course includes fresh water and salt water fish and crustaceans.)
The staffer helped us develope several routes that lead to the "end of the road," exactly what we were looking for as a day's worth of touring.
This visitor's center is worth your time ----visiting!
