AMERICAN CEMETERY
Cemetery considered the oldest in the Louisiana Purchase, located next to Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Located right next to Holy Cross Catholic Church, this cemetery is considered by many historians to be the oldest in the Louisiana Purchase (the entrance gate reads 1737). Some graves date back to colonial times, and the families who built Natchitoches can be found here (Prud'homme, Lambre, Cloutier, Roquier, Buard, DeBlieux, Sompayrac, etc.). The Louisiana Sports Hall Of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum offers free guided tours of the cemetery on the first Friday of the month, from June to October inclusive.
