GOTHIC JAIL AFTER DARK
Gothic Revival style building dating from 1915 that could accommodate about 50 prisoners on three floors
This Gothic Revival style building dating from 1915 was used as a prison until 1982. At that time, it could accommodate about 50 prisoners on three floors, while the first floor was used for the guard and his family. The prison was considered a progressive institution at the time because of the presence of toilets and showers in each cell, as well as openings that let in air and light. A number of prisoners were hanged here, leaving an unfortunate scent within the walls of this small penitentiary.
